The Prince’s Drawing School

Young Artists’ Programmes

Drawing ClubsThe School aims to make it possible for every child with an aptitude for drawing to achieve their potential. The School provides serious, sustained tuition and mentoring, for children aged 10–18, from all backgrounds, through affordable programmes which are provided when and where it works for students.

To make it possible for every child with an aptitude for drawing to achieve their potential. We believe that learning to draw opens doors to futures in art, design, science and engineering.

How are we different?

There are many excellent programmes which expose children to the arts. However, we are targeting children with aptitude and investing in building their skills over the long-term.

How are we achieving our vision?

  • With Drawing Clubs, school children learn how to make, develop and exhibit observational drawingsThe Drawing Clubs are after-school drawing sessions for children between the ages of 10–14 with an aptitude for drawing.
  • The Club tutors are alumni of The Prince’s Drawing School’s postgraduate programme.
  • The clubs are free.
  • Permanent Clubs, which run throughout the year, have been set up in four London boroughs.
  • Saturday Gifted and Talented Club: children from three London boroughs who are on their school’s ‘Gifted & Talented’ register attend this club, taught by lead-tutor Henry Gibbons-Guy. In addition, 14–16-year-olds can join our Saturday morning drop-in class.
  • We are currently building a ‘core group’ of students who have attended a drawing club for a year or more, and for students aged 15 to 18. We are developing an enhanced offer for these students: an advanced Saturday Club, Holiday Courses and a Drawing Mentor scheme. These programmes will focus on developing students’ skills and professional potential to a high degree.

Announcing a new Saturday Drawing Club for 10–14-year-olds who are passionate about drawing

This Club will be similar in style and content to our after-school Drawing Clubs in boroughs across London — tutored by alumni of The Prince’s Drawing School, students will tackle a diverse range of subjects from still-life to life-drawing, using a variety of materials and techniques.

The Club will be held at Shoreditch Town Hall, just around the corner from The Prince’s Drawing School, on Saturdays, 11am–1pm.

If you are a creative 10–14-year-old and would like to join, or you know someone who would, please contact Rosie Thwaites, Young Artists Programme Manager, on rosie.thwaites@princesdrawingschool.org, telephone: (020) 7613 8559.
